CBRC's unsatisfactory performance in construction of KKH

HUNZA-NAGAR, November: Chinese Bridge and Road construction firm's slow pace of devlopmental work has served to decrease moment of transport across Gilgit-Baltistan region.

According to a reliable source, width of the road is even less than the previous one with frequent cross sections. Traveling on KKH especially between Hunza and Nagar has become bit advanturous. On the other hand, experts say that inadequate number of workers and equiptments was one of major reason for delay in construction and repairing work for half an year.

HUNZA, NAGAR, Feb.14:(Shamsuddin Muhammad) Hunza-Nagar like other districts of Gilgit-Baltistan has come under the grip of chilling cold following snow fall for last two weeks paralyzing life of both commercial life and common masses. According to media reports,valleys of Hunza-Nagar, Gilgit, Ghizer, Diamer, Astore,Skardu and Ghanche district are in severe cold weather after snow fall affecting almost every wake of life in the region. The bad climatic conditions have resulted into suspension of flights between Islamabad to Gilgit and Skardu to Islamabad that created troulbles for travellers on either side.On the other hand, icy cold winds have affected airlift operations in Hunza.Due to suspension of chopper service, hundreds of masses stranded on both sides. Nevertheless, through concrete effoerts of regional government, NDMA and civil and political administration, the helicopter service has been replaced with boat service as an alternative to the new challenge.

Maj. General Farooq visits Hunza; over-viewed clearance work

HUNZA, Jan. 28: Maj. (Shamsuddin Muhammad) General Farooq Ahmad Khan,chairman National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) along other dignitaries visited the disaster hit area. He reached thes spot to overview both the relief work and efforts on release of water from artificially formed lake. Zafar Waqar Taj, Deputy Commissioner Hunza-Nagar, Nazir Sabir, former member GBLA, Wazir Baig,speaker GBLA, Dr. Khuwaja Khan, Pesident Ismaili regional council were also present on the occasion.
Talking to journalists, Wazir Baig,speaker GBLA said that the government is doing its best to bring the masses of Upper Hunza out of the trouble. Asked a Chinese engineering how long it would take to release water he said that at least one month would be required to release blocked water. Zafar Waqar Taj,Deputy Commissioner Hunza-Nagar briefed Mr. Farooq about the efforts being made by the local civil administration.
